The primary function of the Bilge Sentry (water sensor) is to alert you if there is an unusual accumulation of water in the boat, while the bilge pump handles normal water inflow. Place it where it can detect water accumulation but doesn’t need to be mounted at the lowest point in the bilge. If the boat typically has some water, mount the water sensor a few centimeters above the usual water level.
- Avoid placing it near hoses, cables, or directly on metal.
- Maintain at least 5 cm of clearance around the sensor. This is particularly important near pipes and cables.
- Clean the water sensor if it gets dirty.
